14th Swimming Novices
The long-awaited inter-school aquatic encounter, the 14th Schools’ Novices Swimming and Diving Meet organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association was held from the 13th to 14th (Girls) and 19th to the 21st of August (Boys) 2022 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Swimming Pool Complex. The event was held after a two-year hiatus due to the health regulations implemented in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, returning stronger than ever with over 5,000 school swimmers across the nation taking part in the competition.
St. Thomas College Mount Lavinia and Bishop’s College Colombo ruled the Championships, becoming overall champions in both the Swimming and Diving divisions. St. Peters College emerged as runner-up. The top eight of Under-10 and Under-12 age category events were selected based on qualifying times, and the three winners of Under-14, Under-16, Under-18, and Under-20 events received the opportunity to compete in the 47th Sri Lanka Schools’ Aquatic Championship 2022. The Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming Championship is annually sponsored by Nestlé Milo, supporting children excel in the sports they are passionate about, whilst nourishing them to go further.
